Ysgol Bro Sion Cwilt

All families must submit an official application to Ceredigion County Council requesting permission for their child to attend the school on a part-time or full-time basis. At Ysgol Bro Siôn Cwilt, we are able to offer a part-time education service (in the Nursery Section) for 3-year-old pupils and a fulltime education service (in the Reception Section) for children who have reached their fourth birthday.

Nursery Section (3 years of age)

All children will have an opportunity to begin their educational career with us at Ysgol Bro Siôn Cwilt at the start of the term following their third birthday.

They will be offered education by an experienced Foundation Phase teacher and support staff (9.00am-11:45am) and will be given an opportunity to stay with us for dinner (£1.80/day) and free play time. Pupils will be offered this education service FREE OF CHARGE. This opportunity to attend the school on a parttime basis and to have dinner and free play time with our other pupils is an excellent way of preparing your child for the time when he/she attends school on a full-time basis

Reception Section (4 years of age)

At the beginning of the school term following their fourth birthday, all children will have an opportunity to attend the school on a full-time basis (9.00am-3.20pm) and to take full advantage of the excellent opportunities and resources available at the school.

During these early years with us, pupils will be members of the school’s Foundation Phase classes. The Foundation Phase Prospectus is available to every family with children of the relevant age. It gives details of the curriculum and day-today arrangements of the relevant classes. Copies may be obtained from Bro Sion Cwilt staff and the school office.

Full-time admissions to the school

In line with LEA policies, children are admitted to the school on a FULL-TIME basis as follows:

• Four years old by 31st August - child starts school in September
• Four years old by 31st December - child starts school in January
• Four years old by 31st March - child starts school in April.

These are the earliest dates a child can start attending the school on a full-time basis. Please note that full-time education is not compulsory until the September following a child’s fifth birthday.
