We are a two-form entry school with over 400 pupils. We employ teachers, teaching assistants and a range of other support staff to ensure that the needs of all our pupils can be met. We benefit from a large, safe and secure site with lots of green space for the pupils to play and explore . We have the luxury of two school halls, two dining rooms, a computing suite and a well-stocked library. Although our building is old, the governors are committed to a rolling programme of sites and premises improvement.
In providing for your child we are guided by the requirements of the National Curriculum and the requirements of the Birmingham Curriculum Statement. The provision at Woodgate Primary School takes account of every aspect of a child’s development. The curriculum gives children the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards of numeracy and literacy whilst ensuring they can become confident in physical, artistic, practical and social skills. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum allowing for the individual needs of each child to be met within well-planned learning experiences.
At Woodgate Primary School we believe that children learn best in a well-organised, calm and secure environment where purposeful and self-disciplined behaviour is expected. We want every child in our school to feel confident, happy and safe. As a caring school we have the highest of expectations in terms of learning, behaviour and attitudes, and encourage our children to develop similar beliefs in their own potential, together with pride in their achievement.
Each classroom has a ‘Good To Be Green’ behaviour board. The school rules are displayed in each classroom and other areas of school. We also promote and reward courteous and respectful behaviour through our C.A.R.R.O.T. token scheme.
Our vision is for all who work, learn and visit here to be happy, hardworking and successful. We aim to provide a secure, exciting and challenging learning environment, focussed on raising attainment for all. We want our children to be curious, articulate, confident, independent and resilient; achieving their full potential in all aspects of the curriculum and their life. The school community promotes, demonstrates and upholds our school values and those of modern Britain.
At Woodgate, our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Key documents and definitions of our vision and values can be found below.
