The Dean of Law Grant intends to support full-time students who are new to higher education, enrolled into the Bachelor of Laws or associated double degree and are from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented in the local South Australian legal profession. These students include: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, students from a non-English speaking background, students who are financially disadvantaged, students from a rural or isolated location, and students with a disability. The grant supports the University's 'social justice' value which aims to build social cohesion by achieving equitable educational access and outcomes across our diverse student community.
The scholarship is valued at $2000 based on a full-time load and it will be paid to the student in two instalments after the census dates of 31 March and 31 August.
Applicants must: be Australian citizens, permanent residents or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa; and be enrolled to study full-time. Applicants must provide a personal written statement (max 500 - 1000 words) identifying their relevant equity group and outlining their career and personal goals and how the grant will assist them in achieving their goals. Academic merit (Tertiary Entrance Rank) will also be considered in the recipient selection.
