As a Catholic school we take great pride in our mission statement ‘ Let it be known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school, the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes, the model for its children, the inspiration for its staff.’ This is encapsulated in the learning environment that we have created and are always striving to enhance.

We are all proud of our school and our pupils enjoy their learning in a caring atmosphere where they feel safe and secure. We are committed to working closely with our families and parishes not only to provide the very best for our children’s learning, but to also help our young people make sense of their faith and their relationships with God and each other.

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

Governors are responsible for developing and maintaining the Catholic character of the school. Governors also review the Curriculum and Standards of what is taught in the school, the Strategy and Finances of the school and the Operations of the school which includes Safeguarding, Child Protection and Faith. A strong governing body is not due to the work of any single individual but is a team effort. We are extremely fortunate at Sacred Heart to have a wide experience from governors, which range from education, legal, accountancy and from parent governors.
