The Nortel Institute Undergraduate Scholarship, with an approximate value of $5,000, is awarded to undergraduate students in second or third year in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Toronto Mississauga and University of Toronto Scarborough. Candidates are considered on the basis of financial need, academic merit (minimum CGPA of 3.0) and an essay. Applicants must submit an essay on The role and importance of Nanofabrication as well as its potential impact on society. Maximum 500 words, along with 2 references. In the essay the candidate must demonstrate active involvement in one of the following (a) research, coursework or work experience involving micro/nanofabrication (b) a proposal for potential student summer research project or capstone project involving micro/nanofabrication.

- Submit two letters of reference in support of your application from individuals who are familiar with your academic achievements and extracurricular activities.

Applicants will be informed of the award decisions by email. This is usually one month after the application deadline.
Award recipients will receive an award letter by email from Enrolment Services. The award letter will include information on the award payment and should be kept for future reference.
