In 1992 only a bare handful of international schools existed in Thailand, each with a strong connection to a single national curriculum.NIST was—and still is—unique.Working hand-in-hand with staff of the United Nations, the first parents, students and teachers envisioned a school free from any one philosophy, creed or system. They imagined a learning community dedicated to a truly international education, one that embraces diversity, and the strength and richness it cultivates. When NIST opened its gates on the sunny morning of August 13th, 1992, 502 young.learners turned that dream into a reality.
NIST went on to become the very first full International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in Thailand, offering all three IB programmes by 1999. Focused on inquiry, exploration, reflection and—most significantly—the belief that learning is at the core of the human experience, the IB philosophy aligned with the shared vision of our growing community. By the time the first graduates left their second home, the NIST name had become synonymous with excellence. In the years since, thousands of students and hundreds of teachers have left their marks on the school, all contributing in their own ways. NIST itself has grown, expanding its campus and extending its vision throughout Southeast Asia. Yet at our core we remain a community of dreamers, of learners who see the world with optimism and hope.
Our mission, vision and values represent a collaborative effort between our staff, parents and students, all of whom contributed to their development. We do not consider these to be abstract, but rather central to our learning and practice. From our overarching direction as a community to our individual actions, we use them to guide and ground us.
We believe collaboration is the key to successful teaching and learning. We want teachers and students who share that value, and strive to work together to enrich our entire community with opportunities for unique learning experiences. We appreciate individual successes and welcome the new ideas people often bring with them. We believe in networks and always seek to build further successful relationships within our community, in the Southeast Asia region and beyond.
We expect our staff and students to work hard, but also remain balanced, and we believe that being a well-rounded individual makes this more likely. Everyone in the NIST community contributes beyond the classroom through sports, service and other extra-curricular activities, modeling the traits of global citizens. We believe that in a learning community, social connections help to keep us balanced, and we encourage our staff, students and parents to reach out to others.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
We have had two children attend NIST from Year 3 through graduation in Year 13. We loved the IB through the years starting with the PYP then MYP and finally the IB diploma. The teachers were top notch as were the counselors and coaches. They not only received an excellent education, but learned how to be good people. I highly recommend NIST and as my youngest just graduated, I will miss being on campus for their sports and activities. #OnceANISTieAlwaysANISTie #GoFalcons

My brothers and I graduated from NIST and now my children are NIST students. I know and believe that they would receive NIST well-established academic excellence and experience cultural diversities. NIST will shape them to become global citizens with kind-hearts and responsible mindsets to the societies.

Since I’ve sold my business in Thailand, NIST is the reason why I stay in Bangkok with my kids. I am an academic and Ph.D. and appreciate the values and quality of education here. One of the top schools worldwide for me.
P.S. I have been part of the NIST community as a parent for 15+ years now.

NIST is a fabulous school with a great and extremely diverse student body . Being a city centre school the campus is smaller but this makes the school special with a great community. School is very close to BTS/ MRT and the Klong Boat can also be used as an alternative mode of transportation. Our children started their school career in EY1 and Y1 and our eldest is now in her final year and we could not have picked a better school. The support during HS years is amazing and doors are always open for our the students. I feel like my children are truly very well supported and educated in a fantastic environment. There is a good parent community with many activities being offered and many options for parents to get involved. Overall NIST is a truly international school with a great vibe!

The best international school in Bangkok. Very strong academic curriculum, extremely tight community, wonderful teachers and staff, and great facilities. This is our second year here, and our kid happily goes to school every day.

I was enrolled at NIST from 2014-2018, 2020 and I am currently enrolled here again after moving a few times. All I can say is that it is the best school I’ve been to. Teachers and students are amazing, food is great and facilities are top notch. Cleanliness and maintenance is also very good, as the buildings are renovated every few years. NIST has always had a special place in my heart.

I'm a proud alumni of NIST International School, back when the school was actually called the "New International School of Thailand" (hence the abbreviation, "NIST".) I have a lot of fruitful memories of attending this school. I loved the fact it's situated in the heart of Bangkok in an area of a lot of Western influence. The quality of the teachers and the International Baccalaureate curriculum sets NIST apart from many other schools in Bangkok, and the region. I look forward to attending my graduating class' 10-year reunion this December!

Out of all the international schools my kids have gone to in the three countries we have lived in, NIST has been by far, their favorite. The quality of education, the facilities, the extracurriculars, and the community members (staff, teachers, parents and students) are the reasons why they will always love NIST.
