Maharaja Bir Bikram University

The objects of the University shall be to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit and by the example of its corporate life, and in particular, to make special provisions for studies in tribal life and culture and for integrated courses of Humanities, Commerce and Science in the educational programmes of the University and take appropriate measures for promoting inter-disciplinary studies and research in the University. Being the highest and noblest seat of learning, the University shall provide effective leadership in guiding education and promoting research work in various fields and shall also endeavour to promote study of vocational subjects with a view to providing employment opportunities to the students.

The name of our department is Applied Mathematics, but we offer courses on both Pure and Applied genre. Our curriculum contains detailed and disciplined learning of Abstract and Linear algebra, Real and Complex Analysis, Newtonian and Continuum mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Different types differential and integral equations, Integral transforms, Nonlinear dynamics, Topology, Functional analysis, Advanced Numerical analysis with lab practical, Measure theory etc. We currently offer four elective courses, namely, Operation research, Biomathematics, Elasticity and Fluid dynamics. All the courses have been constructed according to UGC CBCS (Credit based Choice System) model and have a lot of potential in research fields. We have constructed these special courses by combining basic concepts to the latest developments in these subjects. This will essentially help a research aspirant to build his/her research career. We organize regular departmental seminars, where students are encouraged to give presentations, both oral and poster, to open the new ideas in front of them. Students also take part in book review programs and other curricular activities.

We solemnly try to familiarize our students with the beautiful world of Mathematics and encourage them to pursue high quality research. Our objective is to provide every student a journey from Mathematical knowledge to wisdom of life.

The Department of English, M.B.B. University was established in the year 2016. The seat capacity of the Department is 50. The Post-Graduate Studies in English consists of Four (4) courses in each Semester and a total of Sixteen (16) Courses over 4 Semesters in 2 (Two) years. At present, the Faculty Strength is 2 in number. The Syllabus is up-to-date as well as in accordance with UGC CBCS System. The Syllabus includes everything right from the making of English Literature to World Literature in English. The Department has also Invited Faculties who share their valuable knowledge and opinion to the students. The Faculty Members are always eager to cater to the needs of the students of the Department. The Department of English also conducts Seminars and Book Review Programs every week. The Students of the Department are also involved in extra-curricular activities. The aims and objectives of the Department are to prepare the students as well-conversant and knowledgeable in the vast world of English Literature and Language. At the same time, the students are also nurtured and encouraged to pursue research further.

The Department of Public Administration started its journey in 2016. This is the Second University after Mizoram University that has introduced Public Administration as an independent academic discipline in Northeast India. Presently, it offers 2 Year MA programme consisting Four Courses in each Semester spreading a total of sixteen courses over Four Semesters. Introduction of Ph. D programme is on consideration and it is likely to be introduced very soon. The principal focus area of the Department is its specialization on Public Policy and Developmental Studies. The basic objective of the Department is to train Post Graduate Students thoroughly in all branches of the discipline. The curriculum of the Department focuses on the theoretical concepts as well as recent empirical aspects in the discipline. This provides the students with necessary conceptual awareness to undertake research activities in the areas of their interest.
