Join our Nursery

We welcome girls into Nursery at the start of the term in which they turn three. Our flexible, half-day sessions enable you to design a termly schedule that works for you and your daughter. With options like breakfast club and after school care, our nursery operates from 7.30am - 6pm.

We currently accept the Early Years Grant Funding entitling families to 15 hours of care a week.

Join our Prep School

We welcome girls throughout the academic year and always encourage parents to visit us where possible. Your daughter will attend an invigorating taster day where she'll join her class in specialist lessons, enjoy a delicious hot lunch and be assessed in English and Mathematics. The taster day will fully immerse your daughter in her school routine and give her a feel for what it is like to be at School here. If attending a taster day is problematic, we'll contact your daughter’s current school and ask them to administer assessments on our behalf and provide a report on academic attainment.

Joining in Year 7

Girls wishing to join us in Year 7 from schools other than Royal High Prep School need to take our entrance assessment and will be invited for an interview. The interviews give girls an opportunity to demonstrate skills not revealed in written papers and ask any questions of their own. Students will be asked to prepare a three-minute talk and bring along something of which they are proud. Boarding candidates who are unable to visit the School for assessments can sit assessments at British Council offices, approved agencies or their current schools. Please contact our admissions team if you have any questions.

Joining in Year 8 and beyond

All girls joining Royal High School are invited for taster days throughout the year to experience what life would be like in their year group here. Girls wishing to join us in Years 8, 9 and 10 are required to sit assessments in English and Mathematics. Girls entering Years 9 and 10 also have to complete Science assessments in addition to English and Maths. Current schools will be asked for a report on students' progress and candidates might also have an interview with the Head of Modern Languages to assess their language ability. If you have any queries at all, please get in touch with our admissions team.

Joining our Sixth Form

If you'd like to join our thriving Sixth Form, please arrange a personal tour with us where you'll get to chat to our passionate members of staff as well as current girls. You'll meet the Head of Sixth Form, Mr Luke Benedict, and the Head of IB, Ms Jude Taylor. We run Information Evenings throughout the year to tell you more about our unique choice of A Level and IB Diploma pathways. Following your visit, we'll arrange an interview with the Head of Sixth Form.

Entry into Royal High School is dependent on a minimum of six GCSEs at grade 6 and above (or equivalent qualifications) and candidates are expected to achieve grade 7 in subjects they wish to study at A Level or IB. You'll need a minimum of a grade 4 in both English and Mathematics. We also refer to predicted grades and references from your current school. Some students will be required to take papers to assess their ability in English, Maths and option subjects. A Skype interview may be requested for overseas students. Please contact our admissions team if you have any questions.
