Acceptance into CMIS is very competitive. The primary conditions for acceptance are academic eligibility, English-language proficiency, and exemplary behavior.

The recruitment period is open year round. Please download the CMIS Application to begin the admissions process.

Application Process

Step 1: Submit an application, including all required documents, by completing the CMIS Application.

Step 2: Pay the non-refundable application fee (using one of the payment methods available) upon submitting an application.

Step 3: Once the application, documents, and fees have been submitted, the student file will be reviewed and processed.

Step 4: The Admissions Director will then contact the family to schedule an appointment for assessments.

Step 5: Upon completing the assessments, the applicant’s file will be reviewed by the CMIS Admissions Team. If the applicant meets the CMIS criteria, an acceptance letter will be sent to the family. If the applicant does not meet the CMIS criteria, a letter will be sent to the family to inform them of the decision.

Academic Requirements

CMIS strives to maintain a balanced international environment where English is the language of instruction. We welcome applications from international students who:

  • Qualify academically (as determined by school records and standardized entrance assessment results),
  • Meet the required English-language proficiency expectations for their grade level (as determined by CMIS guidelines).

We accept a limited number of academically qualified non-native English speakers, provided that their English-language proficiency falls within the CMIS guidelines for English Language Development (ELD) and there is space available.

We have limited availability for students with mild learning disabilities (as determined by previous school records, standardized testing, and documentation such as an IEP, school support plan or professional diagnosis) provided their disability falls within the CMIS guidelines for learning support and there is space available.

Enrollment Policies

Open Enrollment: CMIS accepts applications for Elementary School (Preschool through Grade 5) and Middle School (Grades 6 - 8) and High School (Grades 9 - 12) throughout the year as long as space is available. All applicants must pass their required birth date by the start of school in August to be considered for that year’s enrollment. This standard remains the same for those who wish to join in the second semester.

Closed Semester Enrollment: CMIS has a closed semester policy for Grade 12. The intake of new students in Grade 12 occurs only twice a year, at the beginning of the Fall Semester in August and the Spring Semester in January.

Exceptions: In some cases, mid-semester High School applicants may be enrolled in an auditing status for the remainder of the current semester and then allowed to take courses for credit at the beginning of the next semester.
