William Davies Primary School

  • Address: Stafford Road, Forest Gate - Newham, London, England (Map)
  • Tel: Show Number

The staff, governing body and pupils of William Davies would welcome you applying for a place at our school. To do this you must follow the correct process for your child’s age

If a family arrives in Newham during the school year  and their child needs a school place they must complete an In Year form naming their preferred schools.

In Year’ School Admissions Application

  • School places are usually offered within 10 days.
  • The place offered may not be at the school the family prefers as that school may not have a suitable place available.
  • In Year Admissions for 1 September to 16 July (Year Groups: reception to Year 6)

Before submitting a junior school application we strongly recommend all families read the autumn edition of the local authorities ‘Starting Primary School’ guide and find out information about the school you are interested in.

The Induction Process
Parents and children are invited to an open day where the children and parents meet the staff in the summer term.
Then children and parents are invited to a number of stay and play sessions where the child, staff and parents get to know each other in the summer term.

This is followed up by a home visit, in September, where two members of staff visit the child and parent at home. This enables individual and confidential conversations. At this point, we will take a copy of proof of child’s DOB and address. This information is held in school for one year and then deleted.

We also need to be given an emergency contact; if parents are unable to supply us with an emergency contact then the Local Authority would be the emergency contact for the school.

At this point parents are given a start date and a settling in period.  During this settling in time, parents are asked to stay with their child for the first few days, depending on the level of support they need.

Offer of a place at other times of the year
We review our waiting lists regularly and if children on our list are due to start reception in the following September and a place has become available we will offer a place. We cannot offer the full induction process during the year but we always conduct a home visit.

If there are still spaces and we have children on our waiting list, we do occasionally offer a place with priority given to older children whose birthday falls between September-December.  This means that the child would have 5 terms at nursery. For children living in Newham families must apply via London Borough of Newham.

For children living outside Newham, whose family wants them to attend this school their application must be made through their home borough naming this school as a preference on their application.

Remember, parents/carers must apply for a reception place in this school, even if the child

  • Attends our nursery
  • Has a brother or sister attending this school.

Before submitting a reception application we strongly recommend all families read the autumn edition of the local authorities ‘Starting Primary School’ guide and find out information about the school you are interested in
