How to apply
Our goal is to provide outstanding education and life changing opportunities for all our children. We are part of CHAT Academies. CHAT currently runs 5 academies in North London, educating some 2,200 pupils.
We hope you will find all the information you need to make a direct application to us. If not, please give the school office a call. They will be very happy to help. Wendy Bowstead, Head of Business and Administration.
Nursery admissions
We accept applications for our nurseries all year round
Our nurseries
Kingfisher Hall nursery
All families are eligible for free part time places (15 hours for 38 weeks). We accept children who are aged 3 years old.
Robin Hall nursery
All families are eligible for free part time places (15 hours for 38 weeks)
Some families will be eligible for free full time day care (30 hours for 38 weeks) but parents will need to meet the national criteria in order to be eligible. We accept children who are aged 3 years old and children who are aged 2 at the start of term in which they turn 3 years old
How to apply
If you wish to apply for a place you will need to complete an application form and submit it directly to the school office. Whilst the majority of applications are usually made between 1st September and 15th January to secure a nursery place for the following September, we are happy to accept applications all year round. The school office will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Next steps
If there are fewer applications for the nursery classes than there are places available, everyone is offered a place. Should there be an oversubscription, we use specific criteria to decide which children should be offered places (after the admission of pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the Academy).
You will be informed of the outcome of your application as soon as possible. Please note that having a place in our nursery does not guarantee admission to the academy's reception class. A separate application must be made for a reception place.
Reception admissions in September
For applications to our Reception places in September: -
The Published Admission Number ("PAN") for Kingfisher Hall Academy is 60.
The PAN is the number of pupils in each year group that the admission authority has agreed can be admitted without causing resourcing problems for the school.
If you wish to apply for a place in Reception and your child was born between 1st September of last fifth year and 31st August of its next year you will need to complete an online application form from the London Borough of Enfield who are our admissions authority.
Key dates
| Opening date for applications: | 1 September |
| Closing date for on time applications: | 15 January |
| Application outcome sent by the local authority | 16 April |
In year admissions
An in-year admission is when you need to make an application to a school outside of the normal admissions round and at a time when a child should already be attending school.
An application for in-year admission is usually made if you have recently moved, arrived from another country or if you wish to transfer to us from another school during the academic year.
Parents should be mindful that spaces may be limited. You will need to complete an in-year application form available from the London Borough of Enfield.
Admissions appeals
Parents / carers have the right of appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel if they are dissatisfied with an admission decision of the Academy (although this right does not apply to decisions relating to applications to any of our nurseries).
The Appeal Panel will be independent of the Academy and will be overseen by the London Borough of Enfield in line with the School Admission Appeals Code published by the Department of Education.
The Department for Education has also published Advice for parents and guardians on school admission appeals.
How to appeal
- If you wish to appeal an admission decision, please complete the appeal against admission decision form.
- If the appeal relates to the main September intake, the form should be returned to the school by the applicable closing date below.
- It should be noted that appeals will be considered against the schools admissions criteria as opposed to any personal circumstances which parents / carers may feel are appropriate.
