Welcome to The King’s School. It is an enormous privilege and pleasure to lead this remarkable school.
Set in a breathtaking location amongst the precincts of Canterbury Cathedral, our school offers an environment and experience like no other. Believed to be the first school in England and located in a bustling, historic city and world heritage site, our school has a unique history and our community a special character: spiritually aware, connected, warm-hearted and open-minded.
We are inspired not constrained by tradition, and this is a school which has always looked to the future. Today, pupils benefit from fantastic facilities, a wide-ranging, enlightening and stimulating curriculum, a phenomenal breadth of co-curricular activities and outstanding pastoral care. This is a place which ignites passions and nurtures individual interests, no matter what they are, allowing pupils to forge their own unique path whilst with us, and preparing them for fulfilling futures, regardless of the course that they follow beyond school.
I hope that you will come to see us, and experience this magical school for yourself.
Ethos
Our philosophy behind the pursuit of academic excellence is that talented pupils are stretched but not stressed by enlightened and stimulating teaching. The Lower and Middle School curriculums combine a broad sweep of both the arts and the sciences which nurture a careful training of the mind. Our vibrant and intellectually exciting Sixth Form provides the ideal springboard for strong applications to Oxbridge, Russell Group, and other top UK and US universities. The King’s spirit gains its momentum and release through the equal weight attached to co-curricular activities. King’s possesses the knack of developing individual passions that often become lifelong pursuits; sporting, musical, and artistic opportunities abound for every pupil.
The school is situated within the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, a World Heritage Site. The buildings are a mixture of old and new ranging from the 14th-century Meister Omers to the 21st-century New Grange. Such a setting, by its very nature, creates a close-knit and warm-hearted community that is spiritually aware, historically informed and appreciative of aesthetic beauty. Excellent pastoral care means that pupils can grow up in a secure and nurturing environment where individuals value the success of others as much as they enjoy their own triumphs. The energy and the spirit of the pupils are a worthy match for the exceptional environment.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
At The King's School, the dedication of the staff is matched only by the remarkable growth I've witnessed in my child, making the boarding experience truly transformative.
