At Hawthorn School, we continually strive to foster confident and successful citizens of the future. INDIVIDUALLY WE MATTER, TOGETHER WE SHINE! Everyday, we are greeted with all the smiling faces from our Hawthorn family. We pride ourselves on the learning we create and warmth we provide for all our families and beyond. As a gold awarded Rights Respecting school, we value the voice of our pupils; our Eco Warriors and pupil ambassadors are very active.

Being the Head Teacher of Hawthorn Primary school is a great privilege and I am incredibly proud of the staff, pupils, and their families for making our school so successful.

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Our aim is to embody our Vision Statement of INSPIRE, CHALLENGE, ACHIEVE through a commitment to educate the whole child. Our motto of ‘Individually We Matter – Together We Shine’ captures our belief in promoting respect for all, honouring the diversity of each individual and celebrating how living, working and learning together promotes a harmonious and strong community.

The Religious Education curriculum at Hawthorn Primary School provides children with the opportunities to explore what people believe and how this impacts their way of life. Children are taught to make connections between religions and non-religious beliefs. RE equips children with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief in order for them to reflect on their own ideas of living. This will significantly contribute to children’s personal development and well-being. Children tackle difficult questions by learning insights that can work to challenge stereotypes, promote cohesion, and understand extremism. RE is also a very valuable subject, as it encourages children to value themselves and the communities within which they live.
