Two Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) PhD Scholarships at ACU in the Healthy Brain and Mind Research Centre (HBMRC)

Australian Catholic University is offering TWO full-time, 3-year PhD RTP scholarships to undertake cutting-edge research in the areas of motor and cognitive development over the lifespan, disability, and/or rehabilitation science. The successful candidates will work with our established team of local and international collaborators, including current research students, as part of the Healthy Mind and Brain Research Centre (HMBRC) at ACU.

Our Research Program, Development and Disability Over the Lifespan, has a current focus on the interplay between motor and cognitive processes in child development and in adult aging, and their relationship to the development of motor skill and dual-tasking. As well, we are developing and testing innovations in motor training and rehabilitation using virtual-reality (VR) and related technologies.

The successful applicants will be supervised by Professor Peter Wilson and Dr Michael Cole of ACU.

The successful applicants may also receive associate supervision from non-ACU project investigators which include world leading experts in psychology, human movement science and neuroscience:

  • Prof. Bert Steenbergen (Radboud University, The Netherlands)
  • Prof. Andrew Gordon (Columbia University, NYC)
  • Prof. Dido Green (Brunel University, London)
  • Prof. Peter Silburn (University of Queensland)
  • Dr. Wesley Thevathasan (University of Melbourne)
