Welcome to Coogee Boys’ Preparatory School and thank you for visiting us. We are a small boutique, primary boys school located in Randwick, in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. As the third Headmaster of Coogee Preparatory in over 100 years, we are incredibly proud of what the School has achieved as a place of teaching and learning. As a community we can hold our heads high knowing that as the boys transition from their small Prep School into one of the many large Independent and selective secondary schools around Sydney, they do so confidently knowing they are well prepared as gentlemen, scholars and sportsmen.
While Coogee Preparatory has a long and incredible history founded in boy’s education and a traditional value set, it is our modern approach to learning that has fostered a nurturing and supportive environment for our students from Kindergarten to year six as they develop into well rounded young men.
At Coogee Preparatory we recognize that every student who walks through our doors have different learning needs, capabilities and interests. Our agile, dynamic and engaging teaching team instill an irrefutable self-confidence and esteem in our student, while delivering a comprehensive education curriculum, supported by an extensive sporting, co-curricular and creative/performing arts program.
The motto ‘Gentleman, Scholar, Sportsman’, upon which Coogee Boys’ Preparatory School is built, represents the school’s goal of preparing boys to become independent, resourceful, caring individuals and contributing members of society.
As a boutique boys primary school, we aim to foster a sense of community where all boys know, and are, able to interact with each other across all grades – from Kindergarten to Year Six. This approach creates a culture of inclusivity, enhanced self-esteem and diversity. The School endeavours to teach boys respect and responsibility for themselves, for others, for the School environment and for the wider community.
The School promotes and in-stills gentlemanly behavior, good manners, politeness and courtesy from all its students. The classrooms are creative learning environments, centered on individual needs, independent learning and whole class outcomes, which is necessary for ongoing student personal growth and development. The School encourages all boys to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities, including the sports program, house activities and cultural pursuits that promote teamwork, camaraderie and School Spirit. We strive to ensure that each student’s experience at Coogee Prep is a positive and rewarding one.
The safe, nurturing and supportive environment encourages all students to develop their potential, where scholastic, social and personal resilience are key outcomes from their time with us. Students are encouraged to take on measured risks and the new challenges presented, ultimately preparing them for the rigors and challenges of further education and their lives ahead.
While the School finds a foundation in Christian principles, we are open to all families, irrespective of denomination or social background. The School has a non-selective admissions policy, which allows for boys with a wide range of abilities and talents to enter the school at any grade where there is availability.

Our Find Coogee prep is great value for money, small classes with a good balance of sport and academics. Our Boys love the school and all the teachers. Would highly recommend this for any families with young boys.
