BIS Abu Dhabi Wins MENA School Excellence Award for Parent Partnership

The British International School (BIS) Abu Dhabi is proud to announce its win at the MENA School Excellence Awards 2025 in the category of Parent Partnership. The awards celebrate excellence and innovation across international schools in the UAE and wider Middle East and North Africa region.

This award recognises BIS Abu Dhabi’s world-class Parent Partnership Strategy, guided by the innovative Parent Power approach. Through inclusive collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and deep-rooted community engagement, the school has set a benchmark for impactful family-school partnerships.

“We are thrilled to be recognised for the strength of our parent partnerships,” said Mrs. Aine McGlue, Head of Secondary at The British International School Abu Dhabi. “At BIS Abu Dhabi, we believe that strong collaboration between families and the school leads to better outcomes for every child. This award reflects our commitment to creating a warm, inclusive community where every parent feels valued, empowered, and heard.”

The school’s winning submission highlighted several key initiatives that made a lasting impact on the school community:

  • Parent Voice Platforms: Opportunities such as Head’s Together sessions and a dedicated Parent Representative Network ensure parental feedback actively shapes school life.
  • The Big Issue Speaker Series: Parent-led conversations addressing critical topics such as mental health, academic pressure, and digital wellbeing.
  • Tailored Language Programmes: In-house parent language classes help bridge communication gaps and foster inclusion in a multilingual environment.
  • Digital Tools for Engagement: Platforms like Firefly and hybrid conference formats provide flexible, 24/7 access to academic updates and resources.
  • Record-Breaking Participation: Parent attendance at events like Union Day and Pinktober reached new highs, reinforcing unity and school pride.

Over the past year, these initiatives have led to a 45% increase in parent event participation, 94% satisfaction with parent feedback sessions, and a 15% rise in student enrolment, reflecting growing confidence in the school’s inclusive approach.

This success complements BIS Abu Dhabi’s wider recognition as a finalist in two other categories at the MENA School Excellence Awards: Early Years and Student Wellbeing.

From its Eco Edventure Area in Early Years to pioneering wellbeing tools such as YouHQ and Colour Monster, the school continues to prioritise holistic development and student success at every stage.
