Barlows Primary School is situated in the heart of Fazakerley in the city of Liverpool. The school has been at the centre of the local community for many years and we pride ourselves on firmly holding the pupils’ best interests at the heart of everything we do. As a school, we also benefit greatly from our partnership with the Fazakerley and Croxteth Children’s Centre which is situated on the school site.

Our aim is to provide high quality learning in an inclusive, nurturing environment for all our pupils. At the end of their learning journey with us, we want our pupils to be well rounded individuals who can thrive in the next stage of their education. As a school community, we have produced our ‘School Credo’. Writing the credo involved the views of pupils, parents, staff and governors in articulating what Barlows Primary School should represent to the community it serves. Please visit the ‘About Us’ section of our website to read the credo in full.

At Barlows we are clear about what we want our curriculum to achieve for the community of children we serve from the Fazakerley area. Children, parents and staff are united in agreeing key elements that constitute our curriculum intent. Our curriculum intent is to:

  • Develop pupil vocabulary and their confidence to use it
  • Be broad, balanced and enriched
  • Link knowledge and skills across different subjects
  • Show pupils the links between knowledge, skills and real life employment opportunities
  • Develop knowledge on the rich range of cultures that make up the city of Liverpool
  • Inspire

At Barlows Primary School we are very proud of the range of awards and achievements that we have gained as a team. Below is information about current Awards and Achievements that the school holds.

Barlows are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Intermediate level of the British Council International School Award! To gain this award, the children in the International Schools Committee carried out a number of projects which included; preparing a ‘Culture Box’ to send to our new link school in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Christmas and Easter cards to our link school in Seville, Spain and various Fairtrade activities where the children have learnt about other cultures across the world, raising and donating money to the Fairtrade Foundation Organisation. A future aim for Barlows is to now gain the highest level for the International School Award, which we as a school will be working on over the next year.
