Master of Cyber Security

Cyber security is always in the spotlight, whether it's a story about data breaches or election hacking. Unfortunately, cybercrime isn't just limited to these areas cyber criminals pose a risk to everyone and every organisation. Governments and businesses, therefore, need qualified staff who have a broad range of skills and experience to tackle increasing levels of cybercrime. There is, however, a significant skills shortage in the cyber security field, meaning experts are in demand both in Australia and globally. This course unique in New South Wales brings together studies in risk, IT, finance, law, governance and policing, providing you with a multidisciplinary skill set that will enable you to lead more effective responses to security challenges. You'll also benefit from our close collaboration with Optus and other major companies in the Optus Macquarie University Cyber Security Hub.

Key Features

• You can choose from three specialisations: Cyber Security Analysis, which focuses on policy, policing and strategic dimensions; Cyber Governance and Management, which examines the business and corporate dimensions of cyber security; or Internetworking, which will provide you with advanced technology and programing skills.
• You'll have access to experts from multiple disciplines, each of who has complementary practical experience in cyber security.
• Simulated learning which reproduces the multidisciplinary expert panels that are employed by government and industry in response to cyber security threats will enable you to develop your technical skills.
• This course is unique in New South Wales in that it is theoretically grounded, but also highly practical due to close interaction with our key technology partners.

What You'll Study

Units

Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.

Entry Requirements

Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.
