Master of Applied Linguistics
Applied linguistics is primarily concerned with how knowledge about language is applied to real-world issues. Key focus areas include the role of language in communication, the acquisition of first and subsequent languages, cross-cultural communication and language teaching. This internationally relevant course will develop your analytic skills and your understanding of the complex relationship between language use and context.
Suitable if you are an experienced / qualified TESOL teacher or other language professional, working or aiming to work in the areas of teaching, curriculum development, literacy education assessment and program evaluation, bilingualism, teacher education, policy development, management, or a community service where language and communication are critical issues.
Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.
Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.
Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.
