Assistant/associate professor

Job Summary

The position is based in Lahti Campus and situated at the assistant/associate professor levels of the tenure track system. The position is filled for a four-year fixed term.

The assistant/associate professor is expected to demonstrate a high level of academic competence in process and/or plant design, most preferably with demonstrable experience in biorefining. Industrial experience is considered an additional asset for the applicant. The research may include but is not limited to

• System level design, e.g. material and energy integration
• Process safety
• Process control design
• Industrial scale-up and techno-economics
• The design of novel biorefining processes
• Material design for novel processes (e.g. biorefining processes based on novel solvents)
• Bio-based materials processing

We value experience in successful project work and research collaboration. Proof of and potential in high-impact international publishing are expected. Collaborative skills both within LUT and with national and international partners are crucial for the task, and the demonstration of successful international collaboration is considered an asset for the applicant.

• A separate list of the publications submitted for expert evaluation
• A teaching portfolio or an equivalent account of your teaching qualifications
• An account of your merits and activities of significance to the vacancy (max. 3 pages)
• An account of your vision on the development of education, research and projects in the field of the professorship at LUT University (max. 3 pages).
