Dubai, UAE: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Bits), Pilani, will invest $50 million (Dh183.65 million) into its four campuses in the coming years to aid the expansion of its research and development facilities.
The announcement was made by Professor B.N. Jain, Vice-Chancellor, at the Dubai campus graduation ceremony on Sunday.
“Given the disciplines that Bits has emphasised over the years it would be reasonable to plan an investment of $50 million over the coming years,” said Jain.
“To fund this expansion of our research capacity we look to industry and government in the UAE and India to help with funding in the form of sponsored R&D projects.”
Bits Pilani has four campuses, three of which are in India and one in Dubai. With nearly 11,000 students spread across the campuses, its programmes focus on science, engineering, pharmacy, social science and management.
