Sohar University has announced the appointment of its new Dean of the Faculty of Business, Professor Stephen Hill (pictured). Prof Hill arrived at the University on September 1 from Glamorgan University in UK, where he worked for 10 years in the School of Business. He holds BSc (Econ), MSc (Econ) and a DSc. As a Professor at Glamorgan, he was also the Head of Research and Staff Development in the Business School.
Prior to this he spent 23 years at Cardiff University where he established a research organisation called The Welsh Economy Research Unit, which conducts research into the Welsh economy and provides information and analysis of economic issues in Wales. More recently he has worked with the British Council in supporting Creative Industries in Lebanon, and in the pan-Africa Creative Lives programme. Prof Hill is looking forward to living and working in Oman. He says: “I’m very optimistic about the future of Sohar University as all the people I have met so far are very friendly, enthusiastic and hard working.”
